I was honoured to have Ken Kot visit me in Liverpool for a few days of private tuition before he returned home to Hong Kong. He had been my student in Glasgow for a few years, and then I moved down to Liverpool, so he wanted a final opportunity to spend some time training with me before leaving the UK.
We touched on a variety of subjects over the few days he spent with me, and we approached our training quite holistically through a number of different kinds of exercises. We did some test-cutting, some minimal gear sparring, plenty of coach/student drills, and we did quite a lot of sparring to integrate the various things we had been working to improve.
On the final day, we pushed our sparring up to tournament intensity, while still trying to showcase and integrate the lessons from the previous few days. Ken is very skilful, and is also a very fast learner, and so he was performing well!
If you are interested in doing some residential training with me, to work on a part of your fencing that you would like to improve, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me and discuss your ideas.
